Tough Test for the Foxes! - Internetfoxes 2 ASB (QPR) 2 15/09/07

For the first time in about 2 years, the Internetfoxes hosted the QPR Supporters team ASB. The last time we played them we were on the end of a 10 - 0 drubbing.

So when it came to kick off time and we only had 12 players, of which several were carrying, things weren't looking too good.
As it happened ASB also only had 12 players, but it was quite clear after watching their warm up that they were going to have superior fitness. It was the Foxes who took the lead though, with a corner from the left being swung in by Captain Jamie J, which appeared to have been put in by Ronn, but was cleared "off the line" only to forced back in and again to be cleared "off the line" possibly via a hand? With all the confusion the ball ended up out on the right just inside the Foxes half, with half the Foxes & ASB players having stopped, not knowing exactly what was going on. It was left to Kev B to take the initiative and send a ball back into the ASB box for Sam S to fire home. ! - 0 to the Foxes. It was now time for ASB to raise the game, and that they did. A team with a lot of speed and skill, it wasn't long before it was 1 - 1, then 1 - 2, and that's how it stayed until Half Time.

The second half was a hard fought half, with ASB Speed & Skill being met with the Foxes resolute defending. The more ASB pushed the more it looked like they would score, but it was on one of these attacks that led to a quick breakaway after Bernie M intercepted a pass and fed the ball through to Sam S who coolly rounded the keeper and slotted home. 2 - 2. But there was still time for a winner, and as for most of the second half it was ASB who had the final attack, which led to a fantastic save by Caddie in the foxes goal, and was quickly followed up by a superb mazy run by one of the ASB players, going past about 5 or 6 Foxes players, before finally getting tackled in the area. Full time 2 - 2. A hard fought game played in good spirits, Thanks to the ASB lads for coming up for the game.

Ifoxes goal scorer was Sam S x 2.

Squad as follows : Bernie Muollo, Kev Batchelor, Jamie Johnson, Luke Holyoake, Sam Sheils, Darren Cadle, Phil Bray, Danny G, Kev Brown, Graham Jones, Steve Parker & Ronn Madarbux.

Fanbantanet 08 the 13th worldnet tournament 18/19/20 July 2008

It's only been a couple of months since Worldnet 2007, but we are now looking forward to 2008.

As we all know, this is a very popular tournament, and places are going to fill up very fast.
With that in mind, we will now require all players to confirm their availability for the weekend of 19/20th July 2008 for the trip up to Leeds.

There have been a few replies so far, and the 2008 squad list can be found here.

New Season starts well! - Internetfoxes 3 Watford 2

Fresh on the sucess of Worldnet 2007, The Internetfoxes started the new season as they finished the old one, by winning!

A good start for new captain Jamie Johnson & Vice Captain Chris Stenson who have taken over the reigns from Phil Bray & Bernie Muollo. First order of the day was to sort the team out, with a couple of people not making it and one who wasn't expected turning up.
It was also good to see the return of Stevie P after quite a few months out, And we even had one of our goalies - Derek Marshall having a stint out on Pitch.

A Report on the Game will follow later...
Ifoxes goalscorers were James K x 1, Ryan D x 1 & Jamie J x 1.

Squad as follows : Bernie Muollo, Kev Batchelor, Jamie Johnson, Chris Stenson, Luke Holyoake, Sam Cobley, Sam Sheils, Darren Cadle, Martin Hughes, Phil Bray, Ryan Dawkins, Michael Lax, Derek Marshall, Steve Parker & James Knight.

Sports Interactive Plate Winners 2007

Congratulations to the Internetfoxes A Squad who have won the Sports Interactive Plate after beating Darlington 2 - 0.

Worldnet is a 2 day tournament which usually involves 64 teams from across the UK and Europe, with day 1 seeing them all split into 16 groups of 4, top 2 of each group go through to the main tournament on day 2, bottom 2 go into the plate on day 2. On the evening of Day 1 you get the opportunity sample the delights of the Leeds pubs & clubs. This year however there will be 72 teams involved, with 8 groups of 4 and 8 groups of 5. The extra 8 teams that finish bottom of the 5 team groups will go into a seperate competition on the Sunday afternoon.

In previous years the Internetfoxes have taken up 1 squad but this year we took up 2. Unfortunately out of the 39 players who had said yes, only approx 27 turned up on the Saturday & 23 on the Sunday. This certainly didn't help preparations, especially for the B squad, who started their first game with 10 men and were already 1 - 0 down before we managed to get the 11th player kitted out and on the pitch.

A full report on the 2 days will follow shortly, Day 1 can be found here, but the full results can be found here

Internetfoxes 6 - 2 York City

A very good game at Aylestone Park this morning, which saw the Ifoxes race into an early lead with 2 goals from Rob Atkins in only his second game for us, and Tom Measures getting the third, all within the first 15 minutes.
In typical Leicester style we then sat back a bit and conceded a penalty after some good play by York. Thats how it stayed until half time.

The second half started with the Ifoxes stepping up a gear, but just could not get that all important 4th goal. It was York who managed to get the next goal when a shot came back off the crossbar straight onto the head of the incoming York player. With about 10 minutes to go a tactical switch in midfield saw immediate dividends when Tom M finished off a wonderful run to put us 4 - 2 up. The 5th quickly followed when Rob completed his hat-trick from a superb pass from our stand in center mid / center half Luke Foster.
Not to be left out Jamie J finished off the scoring after battling through about 3 players to bury his shot past the keeper. Like previous teams we've played recently, York have a Top bunch of lads, who if you get a chance, you should play against them.

Squad as follows : Bernie Muollo, Phil Bray, Kev Batchelor, Jamie Johnson, James Webster, Chris Stenson, Darren Cadle, Nick Ashman, Luke Foster, Rob Atkins, Tom Measures & Jamie T.

Foxes march on! Internetfoxes 8 Aston Villa 5

With a large turnout for this, it gave everyone 45 mins at least. The bright sunshine & heat seemed to be affecting quite a few players as they could see images of past players.........But no, they were not images, they were real players, the return of Paul McCudden & Michael Lax!!

With a starting line up of Andy Pickering in goal, a back four of James Farley, Martin Hughes, Phil Bray & Bernie Muollo, a Midfield of Ryan Dawkins, Paul McCudden, Rich Farley & Lee Stone, and with Rob Atkins partnering Luke Holyoake up front.
The Ifoxes started very brightly and were soon on the attack, the ball soon being put out for a corner. Rob A took a near perfect corner putting the ball just in the right place for Paul McCudden to glance it in at the far post. Approx 3 mins on the clock and first blood to the Foxes.
Another couple of minutes later and it was 2 - 0 with Ryan Dawkins finishing off some great play by the Foxes. It wasn't too much longer before Villa started to show their class, with some impressive passing football which eventually saw the pull it back to 2 - 2 with the help of some sloppy defending. That was enough to kick start the foxes again and were soon back infront thanks to Luke Holyoake via a deflection.
So, Half Time and the Internetfoxes hold the advantage 3 - 2.

The second half saw a complete change for the outfield players, with the squad now, a back four of Kev Batchelor, Nick Ashman, Luke Foster & Michael Lax, a midfield of Jamie Johnson, Chris Stenson, Matt Hallam & Rich Kirk, and with Tom Measures up front alongside Sam Sheils. With an almost fresh squad out on the pitch, it seemed like the Ifoxes were going to be to much for the Villa lads, though it didn't quite work out that way. Both teams were still playing very attractive football, and still creating chances. In the end, it was the Ifoxes that came out on top, with Rich Kirk getting a hat trick and Sam Sheils getting 2 more, with Villa getting three more themselves, one of which was deflected in by Luke Foster who also did a superb goal line clearance as well. So, the Final result was Internetfoxes 8 Aston Villa 5
Ifoxes goalscorers were Rich Kirk x 3, Sam S x 2, Paul M x 1, Ryan D x 1 & Luke H x 1.

Squad as follows : Bernie Muollo, Kev Batchelor, Jamie Johnson, Chris Stenson, Nick Ashman, Luke Holyoake, Sam Sheils, Tom Measures, Martin Hughes, Phil Bray, Rich Kirk, Rob Atkins, Luke Foster, Rich Farley (Debut), James Farley, Ryan Dawkins, Michael Lax, Andy Pickering, Paul McCudden, Matt Hallam & Lee Stone.
